The Rice Changer (Japanese: 妖怪にぎり変化) Monster Family is a recurring group of four monsters in the Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer series. It made its debut in Super Famicom Mystery Dungeon 2: Shiren the Wanderer in 1995, making it one of the Original Monster Families. Its most recent appearance was in Nintendo Switch/Steam Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island in 2024.

The Rice Changer Family consists of:

  1. Rice Baby (Japanese: 妖怪にぎり見習い)
  2. Rice Changer (Japanese: 妖怪にぎり変化)
  3. Rice Boss (Japanese: 妖怪にぎり親方)
  4. Rice Master (Japanese: 妖怪にぎり元締)

Related additional families include the Foul Nigiri Baby monster family that first appeared in Nintendo DS Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer 5 - The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate in 2010, and the Banana Baby(CT) monster family and Foul Banana Baby(CT) monster family that first appeared in Nintendo DS Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer 4 - The Eye of God and the Devil's Navel in 2010.
