Magic Castle DS:Shield
Shields (Japanese: 盾) are equipable items that appear in Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer DS2 - Magic Castle of the Desert. Shields are the only way in the game to increase Shiren's Defense, making it an absolutely vital piece of equipment, and some include some very important abilities; A Walrus Shield is the only way to directly prevent thievery.
All shields have a basic damage value (Def), a current damage bonus (+X) as well a maximum possible bonus (Max). Reading an Earth Bless Scroll or Fusion are the only ways to increase shield strength, while Rusty Traps and some Monsters can reduce it (down to -Def). Rarely, a scroll will add +3 Def to a shield. A piece of armor's effective defense strength is the total of its inherent strength plus its enchantments/upgrades. For example, a fully enchanted Bronzeward +35 would have an effective defensive strength of 40. Some shields have intrinsic special abilities (Seals), from preventing theft of items or Gitan to halving explosion damage. Using a Melding Jar, abilities can be melded into a single shield, a vital key to surviving some post-credits Dungeons. Each shield has a set number of seal slots so it's not possible to add every seal to a single shield.

Doubled Rune Shields
A double seal shield is a normal shield with twice as many seals as its normal counterpart. These enhanced shields can only be obtained by doing rescues in very deep floors of advanced dungeons. Such as floors 90 ~ 99 rescues in the Edge of the Abyss).
