Chinese magazine 掌机迷 Pocket Gamers vol. has featured Nintendo DS Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer DS2 - Magic Castle of the Desert cover art on its cover, and gave it a rating of 7. As to what that arbitrary number is supposed to mean, the world will likely never know, or care.[1][2][3]

March 12, 2009 - Explorers of Sky Anime
To celebrate the release of "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky", Yahoo is releasing the original animations of "Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness" until May 29, 2009.[4]

The Explorers of Sky Anime short will be broadcast on "Pokémon Sunday" (TV Tokyo affiliate) on Sunday, April 12.[5]

Atlus has announced at E3 2009 that they'll be publishing Shiren 3 for the Wii in North America. It's currently set for release in the Spring of 2010.[13][14][15][16]

Spike and Chunsoft have announced the next Shiren the Wanderer game. It's set to be released in the winter. Shiren ends up on a remote island after leaving Moonlight Village(CT), is mistaken for a monster, and tasked with finding the Jaguar Eye(UT) - This is an unofficial translation. (Japanese: ジャガーの眼). The game is introducing a new Night mechanic, Auras, and Techniques. Dungeons will feature new mechanisms that will have various effects on gameplay, such as increasing and decreasing the size of the rooms, and other changes.[28][29][30][31]

Spike have announced a PSP port of Wii Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer 3 - The Sleeping Princess and the Karakuri Mansion. PlayStation Portable Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer 3 Portable(UT) - This is an unofficial translation. is said to contain 6 additional character-exclusive dungeons, and will be released on January 28, 2010, for 5,040 yen.[45] A new website has been created and went live as well.[46][47]
November 10, 2009 - Shiren 4 DS
Spike have released new details for Shiren 4. There are gates that block doorways, reminiscent of Red Metal Poles and Blue Metal Poles in Shiren 3 Wii. A character called the Banana Prince is also set to appear and several of the Techniques have also been revealed. They're (Japanese: 風激衝（ふうげきしょう）), (Japanese: 烈帯波（れつたいは）), and (Japanese: 三断撃（さんだんげき）).. The game is set to be released in the winter.[48][49][50][51][52]

Atlus has sent out a press email with disappointing news. Some of the online features for Shiren 3 Wii will not be making it into the North American release of the game. This includes Online Leaderboards, Dungeon of War, Rescues, the Sending Jar, Receiving Jar, and connectivity with Nintendo DS Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer DS2 - Magic Castle of the Desert. At least some good news, however, is the dungeons Shrine of Mystery and Mysterious Dungeon will be included by default.[57][58][59]

There's a news update on the official Shiren 3 (English) website over at Atlus.com. "4 new system sections have been revealed. Stay tuned for more reveals!"[67]
December 10, 2009 - Shiren 4 DS, Shiren 3 Wii
Spike has released new information on Shiren 4 DS. They've introduced a new character named Millie who uses guns to attack monsters from a distance. There are new mechanisms that will move the floor, and generate lava, and tsunamis. Weapons and Shields have a new growth system where they'll level up and change form, the more they're used. Menu background colors can now be changed, as in Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team in 2005. Shiren 4 is set to release on February 25, 2010 for 6,090 yen.[68]
GameZone: Shiren the Wanderer offers a lot of new elements for franchise fans.[69]
