This Howling Forest page is about the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS release. For the Nintendo Switch release, see Rescue Team DX:Howling Forest.

Howling Forest (Japanese: とおぼえの もり) is an optional dungeon in Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team.

It is unlocked after the Friend Area Sky Blue Plains is unlocked from an optional mission and the base's renovation is complete.

Plot

Once the player unlocks the Sky Blue Plains Friend Area, a rescue mail will appear at the Bulletin Board, requesting help from Smeargle. The player then accepts the mail and Howling Forest is unlocked. After trekking through 15 floors, the player eventually reaches the end, where Smeargle awaits them. Once being rescued, Smeargle is almost immediately confronted by its tribe. The tribe wants Smeargle to come with them as the time had come for them to mark its back, signaling that Smeargle had matured. Smeargle does not wish for this, and spontaneously blurts that it wishes to join the protagonists. The other Smeargles accept this and leave. The remaining Smeargle happily joins the team.

Dungeon information

There is a chance of the weather condition being sunny on Floor 3, Floor 6 and Floor 9, and a chance that it will hail on Floor 13.

This is also the only place where Snorlax, Pidgey and Exeggcute can be recruited outside of using a wish in Wish Cave.

Rescue Team - Lucario Rank Badge art.png Part of this page's history has been imported from the PMD Rescue Team Wiki. On September 11, 2019, the Gamepedia Shiren the Wanderer Wiki became the Gamepedia Mystery Dungeon Wiki. As part of the unification project between Fandom and Gamepedia, we absorbed the Rescue Team Wiki and its page histories. Some pages were originally deemed unworthy of being imported and were left behind. We've since imported them with the intent to preserve the edits and history of this community and its contributions, as well as to build upon them. In some cases, these pages have been created again by editors of the MDFW, and the Rescue Team page histories were imported into them at a later date. You can check if this is the case by visiting the page's history.
